oh, I should have quoted swing away. From what she said, it doesn't sound like I'd like him, but who knows. Different people say different things.

Bob Avila's a good trainer (he's one of the top cowhorse trainers), but he's just not NH. But it's fine if you don't like that ...

oh really trixydoodles? I'm also 13, and I give riding lessons (note: I've taken PLENTY of them myself), and train horses.

Sunny, people don't pay attention to the 13 rule. That's why this forum isn't the greatest any more. Too many immature people. My mom registered me, when I was 12, and I was like "but momma, I'm not 13. She said "so, I am." But I didn't post much, just visited ALOT (as you can see,) and tried not to be immature.

Hey, just wanted to let y'all know, I don't think the way I used to about Parelli.
I've learned alot since then, and know that you can never use just one method. I use a variety of methods, but mostly just my "gut feeling" (as my bro calls it).
I hate his psychology junk, and some of his other parts of training. But, I still use his games, and a couple other things.

I know this topic is sort of unnecessary, but I didn't want y'all to think that I was still a dumb kid who thought Parelli was #1, and worked on all horses.

YA I don't really like him. What I do is I combine everything I see and hear into my own little prgram. I am a trainer and 13 so ya I train a few of my friends and my methods work real well.

I'm not his biggest fan. He thinks that the only way for a horse to use his body correctly is to have it's nose three inches off the ground. He stated that in his article in Horse & Rider last September:
A high-headed horse's back will be hollowed, so he can't coil up. Rather than being able to reach deep beneath himself, his hinds legs will lag out behind him. He'll lack the power, athleticism, and movement of a level-necked horse"
His "high-headed horse" carried his head level with his withers.
I'm not a fan of most of the big-time trainers on the AQHA show circuit.

I would not classify Bob Avila as a NH guy. He's about as NH as Tommy Garland IMO.

Well, anyone who's smart enough, won't think that Parelli is the only NH guy in the whole world...or so I believe. I mean, there's John Lyons, Clinton Anderson, Stacy Westfall, Bob Avila, and more.

The biggest problem with parelli is they have a big head.

Also, they go through many unnesessary hoops, just to sell their products.

Several years ago, I was okay with them. I liked how he worked with his horses and all (not as good as others, but they were alright)

Now its not even about the horses. The money has gotten to their heads, and they have lost what they had going for them. I hate it, because they give NH a bad name. *rollseyes*

Well, I find that alot of people think it's a scam, but I don't know exactly why. I know it works for alot of people.

I'm glad you have learnt that not just one method - especially one as crooked as that one - doesn't work on every horse.
