Heya everyone. Eternity- Or Olivia- here. :]]
I've been on for a little over a month, and never got around to introducing myself.
Anywho, I don't own a horse, but I did lease this summer. My lease horse was Buster. He's an 18 year old QH gelding. I only leased him for 2 months, as he turned out not to be exactly what I was looking for. I've been riding for about 4 years, only lessons. My favorite little lesson pony is a paint named Oreo. She's the best little pony in the world in my eyes. But anyway, thanks for any welcomes I might get!

I'm so excited to be on here! Horses have been my favorite animal ever since i can remember. they are the highlight of my life. i own 3 wonderful horses, dixie, chace, and kid. they are all geldings. since today was valentines day everyone was asking me who my valentine was and i told them that it was my horse because no one else would put up with me. anyway i just thought i would introduce my self.

Isn't there a weight limit for a rider on a horse? I mean can't a person be to heavy for a horse to carry and it be to hard on the horse physically? Please help I would really love any and all feedback! I am new and still learning, so if this is a stupid question I apologize in advance.

Anyway, in case you haven't noticed, I'm brand new. Just joined.

I don't have a horse yet but learned just yesterday from dearest Mother that we'll be getting one after moving to Arizona this summer.

I've since spent my entire internet time since then scouring all the horse rescues in the quad-state area. Fun :)

I adore riding. I took lessons when I was younger, went on hiatus for a while until last summer during my vacation to Canada. I'm saving my Christmas money for a trail riding trip this spring. Fun fun. :)

UMMMM...I'm fifteen years old and am proud to say I joined the site legally! Go me!

Anyway, that's all for now. I'm impatient to go back horse-hunting...metaphorically, of course. -coughcough-

There are many pats of the magazine that invite subscribers to contribute or comment by email. It would be nice to be able to find this information on the Horsechannel website. I have looked for such things as well as other places where reader opinion has been asked for and yet no place to actually do this.

Equine Inspirations, Hi Spy, In Focus... all of these. Please make this information available on the site. I hate having to dig through the magazine just to find an email address and instructions on how to contribute.

I was wondering if it could be made that there are more opportunities to get points from Club Horse because as it stands, I have been a Club Horse member for quite a while and don't have many points. Perhaps you could either make the points worth more or add more places in which we can earn points? (uploading our videos of us riding, receiving votes??) It would be helpful.

I am a girl who doesn't own a horse but reads these magazines. I suppose that they will help me if I ever do own a horse but right now with an exception for the english riding class/ articles and the breed article this magazine doesn't help me.

Maybe ya'll could add on an actual live chat room apart from the forums? I love HC and the community and thought it would be neat to actually get everyone together (that is online at the time) to talk live, plus have the forums to post on. Of course, it would totally be horse related. In order to prevent craziness maybe there could be a rule saying that you have to be a member for so many days, or have so many posts before being able to use it?

I've seen these on other forums and thought they were pretty cool.

Anyway, just a suggestion...

It would be great to see everyone's babies, and it might cut down on the confusion of where to post...

Photo Contest Problem

Hello.

The time is coming and I have a problem. I held a photo contest last month asking members to post pics of their horses and then having them vote on their favorite pic. Believe me it was horse related. Everyone said that they had a good time and that I should hold it again the next month. But I'm getting a different thought now. In those few weeks, some posts have popped up saying that games should not be allowed on the General Discussion boardand were pointless and childish, that it pushes back "more important" topics to the bottom of the page, that people who want to play games and stuff should go to the Young Rider forums, and that HI is ONLY for posting questions you have and advice you need and that is it (these reasons were said by real members). I don't want to get on anyones' bad side if I post another contest, so could you please help me out? I don't know what to do. Should I go ahead and post my photo contest or should I not? Could you, administraters, post a topic asking or informing about games and contests? I do not and will not post game after game, contest after contest. It would only be once a month, not every hour. Please, administraters, reply as soon as you can. Other members can reply, too, if you'd like.

Hey everyone, I just got my latest issue of Horse Illustrated and almost had a heart attack. I couldn't find the Dr. Riley column!! (okay, maybe not a heart attack, but i swear my heart skipped a few beats.)

Does anyone know what happened? A mistake maybe? This was my favorite part of the magazine. Just because we get a new editor doesn't mean we have to change the whole face of horse illustrated!

Does anyone else want the Dr. Riley column back?? Please leave feedback.

I thought of a rule that horsechannel could use to prohibit this type of behaviour (third person critiquing). You could say that you can only post photos of yourself riding as critique. If your just posting a photo not for critique it would be okay, just if you were posting a photo for people to comment on the rider's critique. It would also be okay if you were posting a photo with another person riding as long as you weren't asking for critique of the rider, just the horse. Idk, this was just an idea that came to mind when I was reading the threads regarding this topic.

Hello there! I am also a member to the CatChannel & the BirdChannel. On BC, they have a poetry contest for your bird. The winner recieves a high dollar, nice new cage for your bird(s). And then over at CC, they got different contests such as Cutest cat, fluffiest tail, biggest smile, longest whiskers, etc. etc. (Also with prizes.) I was wondering why HC aint had any type of contests? Could there be some? I think that you would get a very good response and a good *turn out* for it. Thanks!

to have your experts post a 'sticky' or 'pinned topic (s) on how to do general health care such as giving injections, sheath cleaning, taking vials etc. Things that all horse owners should know just incase they need to know how to do them at some point?

I know that some of us know how to do these things but others do not and face it some of us who have been around fo a while tend to do some stuff rather unconventionaly due to our own physical limiations or experiances that newbies could misintepert and end up getting hurt if they do not have the basic know how. Ie: I may not have a problem crawling under a horses belly of a horse that I know to look at something odd but a newbie would best be served not to do this. But would be helped by an experts saying it is best to do it this way or that way.

The same with injections some pefeer to give in the rump while other pefeer the neck.

I just think it would be helpful if this can be done with of course the usual disclaimers for protection.

I have driving as well as riding horses and I would love to see a section on the forums about driving horses in harness.

As a member of the aging baby boomers I have slowly switched from riding to driving. I have also found that many older Americans have started to downsize their equines from horses to ponies and miniatures.

I am sure that your magazine has covered those facts in the past. I would love to see this board add driving/harness horses in their list of forums.

I wasn't exactly sure where to post this, but I'm asking that the general discussion forum (and not only general discussion, but ALL forums because there's off-topic post in every forum! In Western Riding there's "your favourite horse breed" topic, what? That has NOTHING to do with western riding. In Health there's something about horse pictures w/captions! What again!) be watched more closly, and post that are games, contest, cliques or off-topic be deleted. People have not come onto the HI forums to play games or vote for their favourite member, they come here to seek advice and information about horses. I can understand somebody asking for help about their life because we're all friends and seek each others help, but things like games and whatever shouldn't be allowed here. They're pushing out important post. HI was never like this before we switched forums, we never had contest or people screaming about games or people wanting votes. This is not what I come onto HI for. If you're going to allow it, please create an off-topic forum, otherwise please keep the rules we already had and delete these posts.
