I know a lot of people on here think Vanners aren't good for anything, but once you see these videos, you'll be sure to change your mind! They're not mutt horses. They've been bred for half a century by gypsies, and america is finally discovering the breed. They're really the most amazing horses.

Starbuck: solid black stallion

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLkWOohb9aY

British Sterling: piebald stallion

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-r3k52auceI

Mr. Bikers Connors: HUGE stallion at performance

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8fIVBLXkTc

Tonka: big, black stallion (biggest feathers EVER!!!)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39oHfO2yWp0

Bandon: stallion

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aVDQqV0wcyI

More coming soon! Don't know her height yet and she is just a grade mini. She is bred to a Black stallion and 6 months pregnant. After she has her foal and it has been weaned she will be taught to drive. I've been told that Arabians are "no good, high-strung, dangerous and should be avoided at all costs." I personally think they're very gorgeous. But then I heard that the "high-strung Arabian is a misconception. Arabians are really quite calm. Walter Farley's The Black Stallion (what a wild Arabian in that book!) and other books help to add to that misconception.

I would only like answers from Arabian owners, or people who have had a good deal of experience with Arabian horses. I would like to try and purchase an Arabian some day, so I can try them out, but I don't want a maniac at my place.

Thanks for your time in reading this post and responding to it!

Horse Illustrated wants YOUR breed profile feedback!

As we plan for new content, we want to make sure you’re getting everything you expect from Horse Illustrated. I have this poster that has a bunch of horse breeds with a drawing of the horse on it, and one of the horses was the Camargue. I found out a little bit about them. They are only grey, they are originally from France, and still pretty much live only in France. They are born dark brown or black, and as they mature, they turn a pale grey.Kinda like the Lipizzaners huh? They have a calm temperament, stamina, and are mainly used for equestrian games, dressage, and long distance riding.
Copied from Wikipedia- "In 1976, in order to preserve the standards and purity of the breed, the French government set standards for the breed and started registering the main breeders of the Camargue horse. In 1978, they set up the breed Stud Book. In order to be registered, foals must be born out of doors, and must be seen to suckle from a registered mare as proof of parentage. Foals born inside the defined Camargue region are registered sous berceau, while those born elsewhere are registered hors berceau ("out of the birthplace"). These tough little horses have the heavy, square heads of primitive horses, but the influence of Arabian, Barb and Thoroughbred blood can also be seen. The gardians look after the horses and they are rounded up for annual inspections, branding and gelding of unsuitable stock."
Interesting huh? Well here are some pics of this beautiful breed. If you have any more info just post it!

Friesians and Jumping

I can't find any information anywhere else, so I thought I might as well ask everyone here:

Can friesians jump? Luna is doing great. If she has her best day at the show, she will be exciting to watch! If you or someone you know is looking for a nice little horse she will be available at the auction following the competiton Saturday night (June 7). Although she only has about 60 days riding, she does not buck, is quiet outside with or without other horses, does trail, has drug a tire, has a nice pleasure jog and we are working on the lope being slower still. She can also run a large fast circle then shut down to a small slow, has been around cattle, pushed them and sorted in the rodear. Luna is right at 15 hands and weighs about 1050 pounds. I really like this little mare but don't need another horse at this time. She is super trainable and quiet around people. We are keeping her in the barn before the competition to keep here black, black, black. I pull her out each day, saddle up and ride. She is never goofy - all business.

So, think of Matt & Luna at the Western States Mustang Challenge on 6/6-6/7. She goes up for auction after the finals on 6/7. I hope she gets a wonderful home; she deserves it! I sure wish I had the $$ to take her .... I'd love to have her.

Hanoverians

I love Hanoverians!!
I have one named Felix, he's in my siggy!

Anyone else like them?

Rate That Breed!

Rules: I post a pic and a couple of people can rate and then when this breed gets kinda old somebody else can post there own breed that they dilike or love. The other day I was offered a half lease for a Quarter horse right down my road (that I could bike to in less than 2 minutes.) My dad liked the fact it was close, the half lease was cheap, and that the barn the horse is in does a mixture of everything. The horse, who I am going to visit and ride on Sunday, apparently does Western, a little bit of Eq, and tiny bit of cross country. As of right now, I don't know much about the horse other than that.

I know that may not help you, but if you know anything about Quarter horses' jumping abilities, please post. I know for most other horse breeds, the general rule of thumb is to begin under-saddle training when the horse is 2. Since this filly is not a purebred Arabian, would I still need to wait until she is 3 to begin riding her? Or would starting her under saddle in the spring be better? His sire's side has the Zippo lines. His dam's side has thoroughbred and Tonta lines. I purchased him as a barrell prospect, but now I'm rethinking this. He has a split personality. One minute he is very well behaved. Doing all I ask. Perfect pattern, even winning money. Then the next minute he asks totally different:bucks, runs you over, refusing to go forward, spooking at things he has seen from birth, and other acts reulting in him needing stitches and a cast. During one of his "fits" at the local fair, the judge asked my son if he had Zippo breeding. My son stated yes, and the judge said that he heard it was common for them to through "fits". Is this true?

whats the all time best twh

just wondering what horse yall think is the best twh i have been around walkers for a long time and in my openion no walker compares to the great prides generator and hes puttin on the ritz comes in 2nd i like the pusher colts but like i said thats just my openion

Guess the breed

Okay, so in this game, somebody posts a pic of a certain breed of horse, and other people try to guess.
