After being through a couple "HorseChannel needs to change" revolutions... I know that the only way to get people to change is to do it. It may be "change we need" (Srry to steal your line, Mister Pres.), but it's not "change" that we're willing to get. In order to get people to change, we need to promote it, act on it, and be kind about it. For instance, if someone is using way too much chat speak, send them a friendly pm. If you want people to start follwing the rules posted above we follow the rules posted above.

See? Little by little HorseChannel can get better every day. Don't lose hope, just take it one step at a time.

Applause to you, Woodrow. I am going to add the link to my siggy as well. I think all in agreement should say I and add it to their own signature.

May I add my two cents?

First off, a bit to add to your grammar point.  Commas can be used whenever a pause is needed.  Many of our sentences tend to run together, and if we used commas where we feel a pause in writing, it helps others in reading.  For instance this sentence is a sentence but it has no commas which makes it kinda hard to read.

Second, if you are going to post a novel, lol, split it up into smaller paragraphs.  This makes it a whole lot easier to read, and more people will be willing to read it.  I don't know about everybody else, but my eyes skip from line to line on computer text, so when you split your novels (lol) up into smaller paragraphs, it sure makes it easier on the eyes, and I don't have to highlight parts with my cursor.

Thanks for a useful topic!

I think this is really helpful--but can anyone point me to somewhere where it explains how to navigate all the forums?  I'm totally new to this, and I thik it is a bit confusing--and pretty overwhelming to try to figure out how to use them.  For example, do you have to go back to the top of the original post to send a reply, or is there a way to do it when you reach the end?  See, I am REALLY pathetic at this!!

Thanks!

Hi hoof. at the bottom of the string of posts, there are three buttons.  Add reply, add topic, and add poll.  at the top of the posts, there are links to the general board, and the specific board you're on.

On Par (12/3/2009)

No offense On Par, but no one posted anything about comma usage.

And about the paragraphs, the longest one is nine lines. It's not hard to read as the sentences flow together so it's easy to read. If she split it up into smaller paragraphs, then there'd be a really long post. Then someone would complain about how long the post is. My eyes tend to skip too, but it's not hard to find your place back again. Nothing anyone can do about that. Even someone with a smaller laptop  screen can read the text and paragraphs just fine. Everyone has their issues with this board, but they learn to deal with them. If highlighting works, then there should be no problem. Can be a pain, but it works.

While you're killing time, remember time is killing you.
