Quite the contrary of halsgal and maddieandpeppy, I think there is already a lot of hunter/jumper stuff. We need more saddleseat! I think many people are under the impression that we just "sit there and look pretty" but there is so much more to that style of riding. I also think that not many people include saddleseat as a type of English riding! A lot of people in my area ride saddleseat (there's not a hunter/jumper barn to be found!!) and you can't find any magazine [except breed magazines like morgan and saddlebreds] that have any information about the style we we ride. It would be great to get some of the myths about saddleseat busted and get people informed about what it's really about! And maybe get some people to try riding saddleseat! =)
filly.blue (5/31/2008) I think there should be a section for people to send in there jumping photos to be judged and the two with the best possition get put in and talked about and the worst 2 get put in and talked about
I always like to learn from other peoples mistakes or study the "perfect" jumping possition.
this sounds like a good idea! something like this would be cool to have in Horse Illustrated. or some sort of facts and stuff about horses. (rare breeds, tack, culture, ect)

I agree with Painted Lady also. I completely forgot about saddleseat!! I have a friend that is real big into saddlebreds. She's been doing it her whole life and owns 3 of them. I've ridden a little bit of saddleseat, but I truely don't know enough to be of much help. I think it would be a good idea to add a section for the saddleseat lovers!

PM for a free siggy!

The one problem I have with the idea of jumping position critiques, is that Practical Horseman already has George Morris do a monthly piece with four jumping photos where he critiques each rider and horse.
I'd really love to see some articles with good tips for conditioning. It's not just something that eventers need to do for cross country, it's a type of cross training that ALL riders need to utilize to build up their horse's cardiovascular, skeletal, and muscular health.

| I agree with horseless about eliminating the Pat Parelli articles. I know a couple of years ago, there was a whole Parelli series that ran for one year, so we don't need the same thing again. Then if I'm correct, there was a Clinton Anderson series that ran for another year. What I think would be interesting to see more articles about eventing. Not just the cross country phase, but training/prep/tack rules, etc. for each of the different stages. That way, it covers a broader range of individual disciplines in one article. Also, maybe more articles about stadium jumping, as I find there are already sooo many articles about the hunters.

I would like to learn more about all the silly english saddles on the market and although I know, how to shop for the best saddle without over doing the money thing.
When life hands you a pile, just smile and say "Wahoo, Fertilizer!!!"

(Look Up) That's my now old pony S'mores! When I was your age (my grandpa says) cars engines whinnied all the time and had four hooves. You darned young folk keep saying your engines are whining. How many people can you honestly say bring their old and used (and still dirty)tack into their bedrooms because the familiar, leathery, dirty scent helps them sleep. And every one you can name (if any) are horse people. Where is summer best spent? THE BARN. Horses are a strange gift from some greater, higher being. They were put on earth to let people enjoy life for what it really is, and to leave behind the worries of life everytime we mounted up. Let's preserve these traditions.

| I want to see some things on fox hunting! alot of people don't get what its about and think all the wrong things, hunter jumper type stuff along with more dressage. Another thing I would like to see is conformation info and what you should look for in a horse for your discipline. Also I think that you should do a thing about responible breeding practices, such as choosing a correct mare and stallion.

| I think it needs more NON jumping english stuff. I ride dressage and huntseat on the flat. The english world isn't all about jumping. I think some different dressage stuff. I also would like to see more huntseat on the FLAT articles, how to make transitions easier and be seen more. There is plenty of western pleasure stuff, but nothing about huntseat on the flat.
