I was wondering what you guys thought of the Bashkir Curly horses. I have two: one mare is a Curly crossed with Arab and then I have a purebred Curly. My mare is more refined and hyper while my gelding is like a TANK. Also, my mare is gaited. Boy, do they get curly in the winter! lol I was just wondering what you guys thought of them and if any of you have had experiences with them.

If its not a Bashkir Curly, its just a horse.

I've never worked with one. But every time I see one, I always think "I'm glad I don't have to groom that horse." Haha, do the curly coats make them harder to groom?

The Bashkir Curlies is, in my opinion, the best horse you can get. lol They are fast, hardy(they were the only ones to survive the winters our west when there was no food; all the other horses died) have hard feet, and best of all, they are easy to train. They come in a variety of sizes and are most of the time homozygous for curls. My arab/curly is the best trail horse, and I hope I can get my other Curly gelding that way too. They arent hard to groom at all. They have more of a oily coat, which makes them more resistant to water, like a duck, it seems! haha I dont groom their manes but I do their tails from time to time. Sometimes they can get really curly, and other times they turn out to be straight haired. And, they are good for people with allergies because they are hypoallergenic. I can post pics later of my guys.

If its not a Bashkir Curly, its just a horse.

i heard that their curly fur gives no allergies... and also that you should never brush tails or manes that often because they can get pretty short. is that true ?

I think they are really cute and dependable horses. I'd love to have one, but then again, there are a lot of breeds I'd love to have!

Let's see some pix of your horses!!
