WBs are the new fad, halsgal, that's why. Hate to sound cynical, but I'm pretty close to positive that TBs are "out of style."

Don't worry, I know they're the fad, and I know my boy is out of style. Man do I know it . . . but the thing is, sometimes it works to his advantage, the judges see him go into the ring and think, hmm, this one's different, and I think in some situations it works to our advantage, and in others, the judges don't even really watch because they're so biased (we've got some pretty crummy judges, at least on the one circuit which is why i mostly show A circuit now, not as bogus . . . ) Some of the judges won't place anything but WB, and some even more specific won't place anything but Popeye, which usually makes me turn an interesting shade of red . . . But usually if the judging isn't bogus, he will get noticed and we place really high. I think some of the judges are starting to get tired of this fad of bay Wb's, but that's just a theory . . . whatever the situation is, I still place really high and do well, but I think in most situations I do have to try harder to get those ribbons. I have to make sure my courses are perfect in order to place high, where as if he was a WB it might not be as hard . . .

So yes, I know i'm out of style, but I think it gives me a challenge, and he does catch eyes, just cause he's not the stereotype . . . actually i've gotten many offers to buy him! LOL! He gets a lot of interest . . .

I think Hano's are great, but I don't necessarily like them any more or any less then other breeds. I don't ride many WB's, mostly TB's and a few appendixes thrown in, but a trainer I worked for had a Hano as a lesson/lease horse and I used to school him to keep him sharp, as he mostly carried w/t riders and jumped an occasional crossrail, but was still able to jump 3' and so on.

I worked on a Hanoverian breeding farm for about a year. They're ok. I personally didn't see anything special about them. Just another horse. It's a lot of money to spend. Then again, I'm not worried about competing at high levels. I do the occasional schooling show and love to go out on the trails. I'll keep my free Thoroughbred.

Hanos are nice horses and good jumpers, but like Misfit said, there is little distinction these days between warmblood breeds. Personally, I prefer English and Irish TBs over warmbloods.

Technically all warmblood breed ( including hanoverians and Dutch warmbloods) are the same. thus you cant really tell the difference. this only does not apply to akhal tekes whom have their own special kind of registry and stricly follow the blood lines to keep the breed pure. but thats only for akhaltekes.

The warmbloods have many different registry's *like K.W.P.N*  name varies depending on bloodlines or the region it came from, such as the warmblood from france the selle francais and so on. you could breed a dutch warmblood mare and a danish warmblood and register the foal as a hanoverian. thats how it works. Breeders main focus is rideabitity and functionality.it's very confusing :S

anyways ..... i own a hanoverian, whos a little runt and likes to give me a hard time *sometimes* tough i've won a couple of times at shows, hes good besides all the trouble he gives. his name is winky *reall registry name willfrido*

   Wiflrido aka winky

before we bought him, his previous owner had sold it to some lady, who kept him for like a year, then she decided she didnt whant willy anymore so she returned him. she never payed the real owner and just took him to her stables with the promise of "i'll pay you later" and so on. by the time winky's owner decided it was time to get him back, he was thin, and clearly his trainning had gone down. he was afraid of the whip, he would buck *ALOT* when asked to trot. he would change his lead when galloping to the right, to the opposite hand. and would refuse to jump, to accept the bit.... so on... now that we did some trainning he is doing perfectly fine, and i love how he jumps.

Now we have a Dutch Warmblood mare KWPN registered.(whom my dad wants to sell D: )

And we also had a Hollsteiner mare :D whom we sadly had to sell a week ago...

Horses are Gentlemen for they let us Jump first.... ouch!

I like them, but I think that wbs are getting a little overpriced lately.
