Isn't there a weight limit for a rider on a horse? I mean can't a person be to heavy for a horse to carry and it be to hard on the horse physically? Please help I would really love any and all feedback! I am new and still learning, so if this is a stupid question I apologize in advance.

i think i read somewhere that tack and rider should not be any more then 20% of the horses weight. but i dont think being a bit heavier actually hurts the horse, its just not the best match as its like a carrying a backpack that is over 20% of your bodyweight.

Proud to be owned by a thoroughbred.

yea like gracie said, i read in one of my horse magazines that tack and rider shouldnt be over 20% of the horses body weight, but i read that it actually can cause back problems later on in the horses life if the rider is too heavy and rides the horse all the time
