| To me its the same. I dont say, oh im going to do natural horsemanship with this horse, and regular horsemanship with this one. I have one style I teach everyone, and of course the horse teaches me along the way. If I do something that doesnt work I move to something else. I dont force my horse to learn sometime a certain way. I will use things like martingales and so forth if its something that I feel I need after trying different approaches, without sucess. "Natural horsemanship" existed before there was ever word for it. Its been around so long its usually incorporated into everything i see trainers doing right now. After all who doesnt want to exert the least amount of stress on an animal, to get them to do what is asked? Thats basically what training is about to me. I think natural horsemanship is quite a cliche, like alot of posters said. I dont go around telling everyone I train my horse in natural horsemanship, I tell them I train in dressage, or jumping. The idea of common sence horsemanship is almost implied, at least I feel it is. If someone isnt listening to their horse, they usually realize it, although they may not admit it. Those are the worst kind of riders/owners out there. And the ones who end up with injured horses, themselves or dangerous animals. Those are the people who dont practice good/natural horsemanship.
