I don't have a boyfriend. BUT, if I did, one of the first things I'd ask him is: "Do you like horses?"

(If he didn't, I donno what I'd do...maybe I'd convince him to like them.)

I wouldn't even date a guy who doesn't like horses, unless he was really special and I could convince him too. :P Is that shallow?

I dated a guy once who didnt like horses. It was horrible. He never wanted to come to the barn where I spent all of my time and we ended up doing his kinda thing...like go out or whatever. We broke up after 2 months. I couldnt handle not seeing my horses everyday.

yuppers. He's great when it comes to my love and want for a career with horses. This year instead of going to regular university Im taking online courses from u of guelph and im also moving 25 minutes away from him to work on a ranch. He doesnt necessarily like that im moving but he loves and supports my decision to move forward with this career goal.
Horse ppl tend to be of a different strain. Your best bet is to find someone who will love u no matter what you love or what you smell like after a day at the barn!!

Happy Trails

My husband is very supportive and tries to go to all of our shows. He'll watch our son while I'm getting ready and doing stuff. He'll help around the ranch and likes to watch the horses. He knows enough to get by. ;) I love him.

One of the terms in my agreeing to marry my husband was that he acknowledge that when we could afford it, I would have horses - no ifs, ands or buts.  After three years of marriage, we bought a home with acreage and then I got my horse.  My hubby tried to learn to ride, but in the end, he has decided riding is not the thing for him.  He helps me with almost everything else horse related, though.  He helps with getting and stacking the hay, feeding on the weekends, and fixing all the fencing projects, which are never ending.  He also is a great help when we need to do some doctoring.  He does so many more things, I could write a novel.  He shovels snow for pathways and gates in the winter, helps clean the manure out of the corrals, and he has built a couple of leantos for the horses.  Etc., etc., etc.  I appreciate everything he does and I know that I could never have married someone who did not at least accept that horses (and animals) were a big part of who I am - or at least I know that a marriage to someone who didn't understand that would have failed.

I personally think it's annoying when a boy who knows nothing about horses is all up in my business about them. I don't mind if they show INTEREST - for example they pet them, know their names, and respect that I'm pretty much gone showing every weekend. But there's this boy who likes me and he seriously is trying way too hard with the horse thing. He won't stop asking to ride them or asking me to take him riding, etc, etc, and he doesn't understand why I won't take him - my horses are NOT suitable for inexperienced people, and I feel like he thinks they're like quads or motorcycles where just anyone can hop on and ride. I also have to explain literally everything I say, which is annoying.

Sorry, that was kind of a vent haha.
