If you just want something for riding around at home/lessons, a friend of mine uses good old yellow garden gloves and swears by them. Then she can save her nice gloves for the show ring. She said her garden gloves hold up really well, and are super inexpensive. I think she has had her current pair for almost a year so far, and she rides several times each week.
Hope this helps!
