I had a fleece bottomed saddle past in the past and it was worn out, so I got a felt saddle pad with a najo saddle blanket. Now I'm not sure if I like the felt or not. I was wondering what kinds of saddle pads everyone likes and what works the best for them?

I use Prof. Choice SMX Air Ride pads.  While they are a "fleece bottom pad", there are soooooooo many different made pads with "fleece bottom" & the SMX Air Rides are more than just a "fleece bottom" that they cannot be lumped them into that category. http://www.profchoice.com/smxcore.html  They are expensive, but well worth the price.

I use a Tacky Too saddle pad by Reinsman, as does everybody in my family.   These pads are affordable (mine was $60 I think) and great for anything from the show ring to trail riding.  I have had mine for almost 4 years, and it hasn't compressed or fallen apart in any way.  It even held up through a rather rough barbed-wire fence accident.

I've tried the tacky too (neoprene) pad.  Didn't like it at all, as it didn't allow airflow.  I've use a professional's choice air ride pad, on one of my horses.  He hates the noise it makes when I put it on (the pad is probably 15 years old, so maybe the new ones don't make noise as much.  Besides the noise, it works fairly well and has a better fleece bottom than some other fleece pads.  Mostly, I use felt pads.  If I had to recommend a pad, I would recommend using a good quality felt pad.  Good luck!

My trainer and I both use them and have for a little over a year ... haven't heard any noise from them, so I guess what ever was causing it before, is not there now. Unless we got some extra lucky ones!

Thanks for the clarification.  I figured they had probably fixed this issue.  Mine sounds like bubble wrap anytime you move it.

I currently use a Neoprene saddle pad, mostly because I got a great deal on it. I also use a wither pad (because my horse has BIG withers!) and drape a Navajo blanket over it all. That seems to work pretty well, but I'm also a fan of felt pads; they absorb shock very well.

I was using a fleece pad, but it just slipped WAY too much. It was free w/ my saddle so I at least gave it a try. I am now back to my navajo blankets or the neoprene pad if we are riding our mustang.

I have a Classic Equine ESP and love it.  I also like basic felt pads.  I've never had any trouble with either of them slipping.
