I bought an appy palomino a week ago, shes awesome but i have one issue. she has these tiny scabs in her coat... like its a fungus type thing or something. she's not losing hair anywhere. i was just wondering how to get rid of it. i dont wanna try 10 different methods and then ask how to treat it. can someone give me an answer?

thanks!

consult with a vet. it could be fungus or bacterial, which sometimes needed to be treated differently. i use an antifungal/antibacterial medication. its clear, i forget the brand name. its in a smaller purple bottle with a horse dog and maybe cat siloette.  becareful about saddle pads and things that can potentially harbor and reinfest a horse.

Most likely rainrot. You will need to remove all of the scab, cleanse with Chlorhexidine, and I prefer to treat with a 50/50 mixture of Athlete's Foot Cream and Triple Antibiotic Ointment. AFC with kill the fungus that causes the condition, and the TAO with help deal with any secondary bacterial conditions and help heal. Depending on the severity, I give Pen injections. Consult with your vet before you go that far, though.
