| My horse's hip bones appear to be jutting out when viewed from the front, but look fine when viewed from behind. Does anybody know what could be causing this? Here are some pictures, taken yesterday. Sorry, they are kind of big:

I'm not sure if this could be it, my horse looked similar to that when he was dehydrated. Maybe your horse is dehydrated. I'm not positive that it is that though. I love your horse by the way. Hope I helped. :)

Personally, I think he looks quite dehydrated. Have you done a tent test on his neck? I would be asking a vet about this. Many will accept an email with pictures and respond.

| I have tested her neck before and I haven't had any problems with her being dehydrated before. I just always assumed that it was a lack of muscle in that area of the hindquarters or something...and our vet has never said anything about it either

There have been new studies lately that show that the "skin pinch" (pinching up a small amount of skin on the horse's neck and timing how long it takes to flatten) actually doesn't tell how dehydrated a horse is. Honestly I don't know why your horse is slightly "hippy" ( ), I would ask the vet the next time that she comes out. Good luck!

| Did you do a capillary refill test? That is a more accurate way of determining if your horse is dehyrated. If you think something is wrong, take all of his vitals and if something is off call your vet.
