| hey everyone! this is a video of my new horse. Please let me know what you think of him and his potential and any other helpful advice! I'm not really looking for any critiques, just what you think of the horse. PLEASE DO NOT CRITIQUE MY RIDING. that was my first time riding in like two months and my first time riding him ever. I only want feedback about my horse. thanks! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rL-qfM6JaTw

| It is literally impossible to just critique a horse undersaddle. Everything the rider does affects how the horse goes. This is not negotiable. Example being, he is fussy with his mouth and his head is all over the place. This is related, or directly caused, by the fact that your hands are all over the place and can't stay steady for even a few moments. Constantly fiddling with his mouth is affecting him in a negative way.

| ^^^ Agreed. I wanted to like him but he seemed to constantly mess with his head, his mouth seemed stiff and unrelaxed. He seemed a little agitated, what bit did you have him in? And unless the spurs were really really needed id take them off, your leg is swinging and it seems to bother him even further. I understand that you have not ridden in a few months, so if you really want a critige try having an exsperienced person lung him. -Sky

| I do realize all these things i could be doing better...i watched the video. that was my second time ever riding him. i have since then been taking lessons. i just wanted to know what ppl thought of the horse, not necessarily his behavior or how i was riding him at that time. ALSO. yes spirs are a must he is impossible to ride without. as for my hands yes i know that me fiddling will affect his mouth, that is what we are working on and in general he is quite green and his head was all over the place no matter what at that point. he had just started being worked again after four months off with not a whole lot of training to begin with.

You're also driving with your seat a little. I had the same problem not long ago and I've learned otherwise because my boy kept stopping at jumps whenever I "drove" him to it. Relax your seat and try to stay on the more frontal zone of your seatbones. Two-pointing the canter really helps as well.
